Alice Voute, Independent Educational Psychologist

I carry out educational psychology assessments of children aged 6 years to 16 years. I assess cognitive functioning (sometimes referred to as IQ), as well as tests of reading, reading comprehension, spelling, handwriting and maths. Comparisons are made between ability and academic performance, as well as expectations based on the child’s chronological age.  Following assessment, I provide a clear description of the child as a learner, including their strengths and weaknesses.  Suggested reasons for a child’s difficulties are made, including identifying the presence of any specific learning difficulties, where relevant.  I give advice on ways to improve learning and academic performance in school and at home through consultation and a detailed written report.

I am highly experienced in assessing children with a range of specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia, developmental coordination disorder (DCD)/dyspraxia, dyscalculia, language processing difficulty, autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).  Please note that ASD and ADHD are medical conditions that I cannot diagnose, although I see a lot of children and young adults with these conditions.  Where relevant I can refer parents on to highly regarded specialist clinicians working with children and young adults, such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists and specialist teachers.

I am fully up to date on exam access arrangements for ISEB Common Pre-Tests assessment, Common Entrance exams and 11+ exams, as well as the JCQ criteria for exams access arrangements at GCSE and A-Level.  Where relevant, I make recommendations and provide assessment information to support an application for exam access arrangements.
